The Hearts Behind Inspire
October 23, 2025

Every year, October reminds me of how much we still keep quiet at work.
I remember the first time someone in my office went on medical leave and later told me
she was starting treatment for breast cancer. She had been smiling through meetings,
meeting deadlines, checking in on others, and carrying silent fear all alone.
I remember this so well. It made me realise that awareness is not missing from the
world. Compassion is. People know what breast cancer is. What many do not know is
how to hold space for it nor how to make someone feel seen without making them feel
fragile.
We spend so much of our lives at work. We celebrate growth, resilience, leadership; but
often forget that healing and empathy are part of the same story. When I think of Pink
October, I think of conversations that should have happened but didn’t. I think of the
silence that fills an office when someone says “diagnosed.”
I strongly feel our workplaces can do more than raise awareness. They can become
places where care feels safe. Where a woman does not have to hide her pain to protect
her position. Where managers lead with understanding, and teams know that showing
kindness is part of the job.
That is what awareness really looks like, when belonging includes the moments no one
talks about!
Why Awareness Belongs in the Workplace
When you think about it, work is where most of life happens. We spend more time with
our teams than with our families. We share laughter, stress, and silence. We see each
other through wins and deadlines, but also through days when something feels off.
That is why awareness belongs here. Because health is part of life, and life walks into
work with us every single day.
If someone finds a lump or feels that fear rise inside them, they should not have to hide
it behind a smile in a meeting.
They should feel safe to say, “I need a little time,” and know that they
will be met with care, not questions.
I have seen how much difference small gestures make. A gentle check-in from a
manager. A message from HR reminding everyone to book their screenings. A team that
listens instead of rushing to move on. They save lives.
Awareness is about the culture we choose every day. A culture where people feel seen
in their strength and their struggle. A culture where belonging means more than fitting
in; it means being cared for.
Beyond the Pink Ribbon
Every October, the world turns pink. Offices light up, ribbons appear on collars, and
social feeds fill with campaigns about awareness. And while all of that matters, I have
learned that true awareness goes much deeper.
It is not in the colour we wear. It is in the conversations we allow. It is in the permission
we give people to speak about fear without feeling exposed.
For someone fighting breast cancer, awareness is not a word. It is a lived reality-
appointments, exhaustion, hope, and resilience that unfolds quietly between work calls
and family dinners. When workplaces acknowledge that, they stop being bystanders.
They become part of the healing.
As understanding as a leader who says, “Take the time you need.” As
thoughtful as a colleague who listens without turning away.
Pink October is a reminder of strength, yes. But it is also a reminder of responsibility.
Because every organisation has the power to make someone’s journey a little lighter,
simply by choosing empathy over silence.
The Ripple Effect of Care
You know, care rarely looks the way people imagine it. It’s the quiet things that happen in
between everything else. A manager who checks in after hours. A colleague who takes
over a few tasks so someone can rest. A friend who shows up with soup and stays for
ten minutes that somehow feel like relief.
Those small gestures matter more than we think. They build safety, trust, and
connection, the things that no policy can enforce. That is how care really moves through
a workplace. From one person to another, until it becomes part of the culture itself.
How Inspire Believes In and Supports Pink October
At Inspire, Pink October is never treated as a campaign. It is a reminder of who we are
and what we stand for : people first, always.
Every year, this month gives us space to pause and talk about the
things that matter but often get lost in the hustle of work. Health.
Awareness. Empathy. The courage to ask, “Are you okay?” and to truly
listen to the answer.
Our focus this October is simple - to have conversations that lead to action. We host
awareness sessions that feel like dialogue. We bring in experts who speak with honesty
and care. We share stories from our own community, because awareness is stronger
when it comes from someone who has lived it!
But more than anything, we make room for care. For flexibility, for kindness, for creating
workplaces where people feel supported through every chapter of their journey.
Pink October, to us, is a reflection of belonging. It is a belief that every person deserves
to feel safe, valued, and cared for, in work and in life. Because that is where real
awareness begins, and that is where it lasts.
It’s Time to Listen to Your People
If you lead a team, this is your moment to start with something small. Check in on
someone. Encourage that screening. Ask how they are really doing. Awareness begins
with people who care enough to ask.
At Inspire, this is what we stand for. We help companies bring care back into the
workplace. This month, we are here to help you raise awareness in a way that feels
human. To create spaces where people can speak, share, and feel supported.
Our team handles everything; from planning awareness sessions to creating moments
of connection that last. You just have to show up with heart!
Let’s make this October count. Let’s make it personal. If you would like to bring this
spirit to your organisation, book a consultation with us or send me a message. Together,
we can create something meaningful, the human way.
